I am not confined by materials in my work. My mediums change as the muse inspires.
My collage imagery creates surreal dreamscapes, in to which the viewer may immerse themselves.
My collage materials come from multiple sources, I'm particularly drawn to early Kodachrome film colors, so source from vintage magazines for that reason.
Interpreting my work is subjective and personal. Taking in my imagery creates a new narrative for each perspective.
Imagery from my collage series are excellent materials for writers to use as prompts.
My work is often reflective of the circumstance I find myself in, my mood or the climate in the world around me.
“… I love forms beyond my own and regret the borders between us.” - Loren Eiseley
From my Journal - “sometimes it feels like the universe doubles over on itself, obscuring reason and even physics “. May, 2020
“I still think the revolution is to make the world safe for poetry, meandering, for the frail and vulnerable, the rare and obscure, the impractical, and local, and small”
- Rebecca Solnit
Finally, this one is long, but speaks volumes about the journey of the artist/writer/naturalist: - it’s sad, maybe not appropriate - but certainly speaks to our times.
“Perhaps a creature of so much ingenuity and deep memory is almost bound to grow alienated from his world, his fellows, and the objects around him. He suffers from a nostalgia of which there is no remedy upon earth except as it is to be found in the enlightenment of the spirit - some ability to have a perceptual rather than exploitative relationship with his fellow creatures.” - Loren Eiseley
